Free Book Time!

Good morning my lovelies! We are in the midst of my favorite time of year once again.

It seems no matter who I'm talking to these days the conversation inevitably turns to AI, the effect Artificial Intelligence is having on our lives, and what that may look like in the future. Some are terrified that computers will take over. To be fair, they kind of already have.

While the Terminator movie series is my all-time fave, I don't expect to have to hide in an underground bunker as computers and robots who look like humans take over the world and try to kill us all. I'm actually more worried about the humans who have the keys to the kill switch that can arm and launch nuclear weapons.

While I don't wish to debate the involvement of AI in our future, or whether it is good or bad, I try to remember that many of the things we enjoy in 2024 were once thought of as the work of the devil by those who lived when the technology was born. For example, driverless elevators, cars, umbrellas, the lightbulb, and dynamite. Well...we might have to reconsider that last one.

That being said, I hope you enjoy the above painting generated using one of the current AI software programs.

Now, for the important news. My plan for 2024 was to abstain from book signings for the year and focus on writing and releasing one book per quarter. The Lord has blessed my journey and allowed me to write three books so far this year. The third is co-written with my daughter, Christa Brogan, and is in final editing. We hope to see it on the market before the end of October. It is a familial comedy titled Dad on the Run. Watch for it!

My last book, Peril at Pelican Pointe, and my first attempt at writing a cozy mystery was released last week.

My daughter took the front cover photo and I used AI to generate the backcover. Here is the blurb:

In the sleepy town of Plum Beach, where gossip travels faster than the seasonal winds, the grisly murder of a local  magician sends shockwaves through the community and brings a goth teenager, Azure, out into the open. The teen is more than quirky. She believes in          reincarnation in the absolute; proven by Blue the cat who she says is her father reborn.

Rookie detective Sam Spaid is determined to crack the case, but he's in over his head.

Enter Philis Marlow, a sharp-witted, vacationing, sexagenarian, and prize winning author with a lifetime of observing human behavior and a knack for seeing what others miss. As Sam and Philis dig deeper, they uncover a web of secrets  involving a band of traveling Gypsies and Azure’s troubled past. Meanwhile, the media circus begins and one of Philis’ aging diner friends becomes an unexpected source of information in the race against time to unravel a decades old mystery. In Plum Beach, the town where everyone knows your name but no one knows your secrets, can this unconventional duo of young ambition and elderly wisdom unmask the culprit hiding in plain sight? All Philis has to do is pilfer through the clues and eliminate everything to do with urban legends like reincarnation, werewolves and vampires. Or does she? In this slightly off-kilter whodunit, age is just a number and everyone’s a suspect.

If you read it I would love to know your thoughts. I have received some encouraging viewpoints so far from friends who have done a read through.

To celebrate that release I am once again giving away a book. Beginning October 6 and running through October 10 you can download the Kindle edition of Love Less Likely, book number three in The Smoky Mountain Suspense series, for free. Please mark your calendars for that.

Remember, ALL of my books are available always in eBook form for free on Kindle Unlimited.

As always, I appreciate the time you take to read my blog, and my books.

Until next time-Happy reading.

Blessings,

Cyn
